Let’s take a look at the cleaning industry competition One of the leading trade magazines discussed “up-sells”, more commonly called “Bait and Switch selling.” According to information in this publication, many of the big National Franchises expect to charge 200-300% of their telephone quote. Ouch! In their “fine print,” you see that pre-vacuuming, “pre-spray” of traffic areas, and even spot treatments all cost extra. They sell spot cleaners, sealants, and other treatments. Some carpet cleaning companies have a “regular” clean and a “deep” clean. Do you think they quote the” deep clean” price when you call?
In a National Franchise’s sale ad this spring, the fine print states that a “sofa” is 68 inches long and has fixed cushions, which is fine if you live in the 1950s. Modern sofas are 90-96″ long, with loose cushions. Others charge extra for “loose cushions” something they probably will not tell you on the telephone. Their techs push up-sells because they make high commissions from add-on sales.
If you read Better Business Bureau reviews of carpet cleaners, there are many companies with “bait and switch” complaints. If the company, “resolves” the complaint–whatever that means–they seem to keep the top ranking. That is not the BBB I grew up with.
CitruSolution honors its pricing policy and telephone quotes. Once you have decided how many areas you want to clean, you can make your check out before we even arrive. Ask other carpet and upholstery cleaners if you can do that!
